Hi! I’m Jae, a designer with a passion for storytelling and visual communication. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design & Sociology at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, I specialize in branding, book arts, and illustration. My work often draws inspiration from my love for manga, anime, and East Asian art, blending cultural influences with contemporary design.
As an Asian-American designer, I’m especially passionate about bridging cultures through creative storytelling. Whether I’m designing a book cover, crafting a brand identity, or illustrating a character, my goal is to create visuals that resonate deeply with audiences.
I’ve had the privilege of interning with teams across the globe — from redesigning a blog logo in Prague to creating marketing campaigns for mental health initiatives in New York. I also work as a Digital Lab Monitor at NYU, assisting students with Adobe Creative Suite and managing design labs.
In my personal projects, I explore themes of identity and creativity, such as hand-binding poetry books or creating character illustrations for freelance clients. My dream is to design for industries I love, like publishing, anime, and music, contributing to projects that inspire others the way they’ve inspired me.
When I’m not designing, you can find me immersed in anime like The Apothecary Diaries, traveling (I’ve been to 14 countries and counting!), or hosting commentaries at video game tournaments.
